Thoughtful, psychologically informed leadership support
Mynd Leadership works with senior leaders, coaches and public service organisations to support the human, relational and systemic dimensions of leadership.

The work is grounded in coaching psychology, professional supervision and deep experience of working in complex systems — particularly health, care, public service and education.

At the heart of Mynd Leadership is a belief that good leadership is not about performance or persona, but about how people think, relate and make decisions when the work is complex and the stakes are high.

About Mynd Leadership

Values that shape our work
-
Depth over performance
-
Reflection alongside action
-
Integrity, ethics and clarity
-
Discretion and trust
-
Human, not formulaic, leadership
Support is not a sign that something is wrong — it’s a way of sustaining good leadership over time.
How we work
Leadership roles often come with invisible pressure — responsibility, scrutiny, ethical tension and emotional load.
Our work creates space to:
-
Think clearly and slow things down
-
Understand what’s happening beneath the surface
-
Explore patterns, beliefs and relational dynamics
-
Make grounded, values‑led choices
-
Strengthen confidence, presence and integrity
We work pragmatically and at depth — combining reflection with psychological insight, evidence and lived system experience.

Who the work is for
We work with people who are often supporting others, including:
-
Senior leaders and executives
-
Coaches, facilitators and helping professionals
-
Leaders managing systems, services or complex teams
Clients often come to us when:
-
Leadership feels isolating or pressurised
-
Roles are shifting or expanding
-
Relationships feel challenging or stuck
-
The emotional demands of the work are increasing
-
There is a desire to lead well, not just cope

About Mynd
'Mynd' is a play on words, or three words to be precise:
-
the Welsh word (pronounced 'minned') meaning 'to go' or 'mynd i bod' meaning 'going to be/to become'
-
as an abbreviation of 'my new direction' that often prompts clients to seek our services
-
a play on the word 'mind' and the psychological basis of change, behaviours and relationships.

All three words connect to the purpose and approach of Mynd Leadership.
About us
Dr Nicola Williams
DPhil, CPsychol, AFBPsS, PCC
I’m the Founder and Director of Mynd Leadership, and I’ve spent over 15 years working as a coach with senior and executive leaders across the public, private and voluntary sectors. I’m deeply interested in the impact coaching can have — not just for individuals, but for the people, teams and systems they lead within.

My work is grounded in relationships. I focus on building trust, listening carefully and offering thoughtful challenge, creating space for people to slow down and think more deeply about what really matters. I work systemically and psychologically, supporting leaders to understand themselves better and to find their own informed ways forward.

Alongside my coaching practice, I’ve worked in the NHS for over 30 years in senior and executive roles at local and national level. I’ve advised on national change programmes across all four UK nations and have experience of shaping coaching strategy and leadership development within complex systems.

I’m a Chartered Coaching Psychologist and an accredited coach with ICF and EMCC, with advanced training in coaching, supervision, emotional intelligence and leadership assessment. I bring this professional grounding into my work in a practical, relational way — supporting leaders to lead with clarity, confidence and integrity, especially when the work is challenging and the stakes are high.
